Half terms are notoriously bad for weather and October was no different. We were in London visiting family and as Mini is a major tourist all she wanted to do was to visit the Olympic Park, we all grabbed our coats and wrapped up and headed for the monstrosity that is Westfield Stratford.
The shopping centre and Olympic park were all decorated with Rugby themed adornments. So there was lots to see and a great atmosphere, it’s a shame the weather was so grey.
As R had been to Olympic Park with school he took the lead and gave us all the tour showing us the art installation by the Canal and also the fountains right in front of the stadium.
We promise we won’t get wet!
Ha ha, talk about famous last words. The kids started by chasing their way through the fountains as they danced, then came let’s see how late we can leave it until we get splashed. At this point me and my cousin looked at each other and demanded they take off theirs coats so if they got really wet we could wrap them up again after.
Of course the next stage was ‘Mum my shoes are wet!’ ‘Mum my pants are wet!’ ‘Mum I’m soaked!’ Then it was BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Thank goodness it wasn’t raining! To be honest though it was totally worth it, the kids were squealing and giggling in delight. Tourists had stopped to watch and laugh at their antics. After they had finished we wrapped them in their coats and our coats and made our very wet squishy way back to the centre so we could go home.
I thouroghly recommend the Olympic Park area, there is always something happening and the fountains were great fun #WhateverTheWeather.
